Context
Heijmans Infra set out to automate the 3D drawing and calculation process for noise barriers. Optimisation lines came from the Viktor application and were used in the Assen Check Sheet (ACS), with models built further in tools such as Civil 3D — but much drawing work remained manual.
Highly repetitive
Noise barriers consist of many repeating parts — some projects contain tens to more than 90 similar elements. Design changes had to be updated manually in multiple places.
Consequences
- Extra work
- Risk of errors
- Limited linkage between drawings
- Longer lead times
- Repetitive, poorly scalable work
